Findability Sciences Empowers Enterprises with AI-Driven Predictive Intelligence
In our personal lives, finding information is as simple as a Google search. But for enterprises, buried under mountains of structured and unstructured data behind secure firewalls, finding relevant information—let alone predicting the future—is a massive challenge. This "ability to find information" or "Findability" is the science that Anand Mahurkar has spent the last decade perfecting.
As a first-generation immigrant entrepreneur in Boston, Anand built Findability Sciences from a sketched idea into a global AI corporation. Bootstrapped for seven years before attracting investment from SoftBank, his journey is a masterclass in resilience, customer-centric innovation, and the fundamental belief that "sales cures everything."
The Problem: From "What Happened" to "What Will Happen"
Enterprises are drowning in data—emails, text messages, machine logs, and traditional databases. Traditional data analytics tells them what happened in the past. But in today's fast-paced market, that's not enough.
"Organization wants is really they want to know what will happen... and they also want to know what to do," Anand explains. This shift from descriptive analytics to predictive (what will happen) and prescriptive (what to do) analytics is where the real value lies.
For example, knowing you sold 10,000 units last month is useful. Knowing you will sell 12,000 next month—and exactly what actions to take to ensure that happens—is game-changing.
The Solution: The CUP Framework
Findability Sciences didn't just build a chatbot; they built a comprehensive Enterprise AI platform combining Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Computer Vision. To deploy this effectively, Anand developed a proprietary framework born from years of implementation experience.
The CUP Framework
A structured approach to Enterprise AI deployment:
- Collection: Gathering data from diverse sources (structured & unstructured).
- Unification: Cleaning and unifying data into a usable format.
- Processing: Running data through AI layers (ML, NLP, Computer Vision).
- Presentation: Delivering insights via dashboards, reports, or automated triggers.
This framework allows the platform to be flexible. The output isn't always a dashboard; it might be an automated email, a triggered process, or a text alert, depending on the business need.
The Entrepreneurial Journey: The 20-Year Overnight Success
Anand's path wasn't a straight line. Coming from a family of teachers in Maharashtra, entrepreneurship wasn't the default path. His first attempt—a two-wheeler garage during engineering school—was crushed by a lack of capital (5 Lakhs deposit). It took 20 years of corporate experience, moving to the US, and navigating the complexities of the immigrant system to finally take the plunge.
"For overnight success, it is 15 years in making... for me it took 20 years to become an entrepreneur," Anand reflects.
Bootstrapping & The Power of Sales
Unlike the modern trend of chasing valuations from day one, Anand took a different route. He bootstrapped Findability Sciences for seven years. He used his personal savings to hire a contractor, built a prototype, and secured his first customer within six months.

This focus on revenue created a disciplined, sustainable business. Funding came later, almost accidentally, when a partnership with SoftBank turned into an investment opportunity because the underlying business was already robust.
Navigating the AI Revolution
With the buzz around ChatGPT and Generative AI, many fear job displacement. Anand offers a grounded perspective. He compares the AI revolution to previous shifts like electricity or banking automation. Just as ATMs didn't eliminate bankers but changed their roles, AI will handle repetitive tasks, freeing humans for creativity and complex problem-solving.
"Who has built AI? Humans... the idea of artificial intelligence is to reducing repetitive tasks because human intelligence and human brain can be used for more," he argues, citing Japan's aging population as a prime example of where AI is not a threat, but a necessity for economic survival.
Advice for Future Founders
Anand's advice to young entrepreneurs is timeless:
- Conviction: If you've identified a real need, stick to it. Don't change your idea with every piece of advice.
- Resilience: "My personal definition [of an entrepreneur] is the guy or girl who doesn't give up."
- Focus on Sales: Revenue is the best validator. Valuation without sales is a bubble.
- Sustainability: Build a business that can sustain itself and its employees.
